Idaho Physician & PA CME Requirements

Overview

The Idaho Board of Medicine regulates both physicians and PAs through the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL). Idaho participates in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC). Detailed CME requirements are contained in Idaho Administrative Rules (IDAPA 24.33.01 for physicians, IDAPA 24.33.02 for PAs).

Physician (MD/DO) Requirements

Idaho physician CME requirements are governed by IDAPA 24.33.01.

Rural Preceptor Credit

Per Idaho Statute 54-1808A:

Eligibility Physicians acting as preceptors in qualified rural areas
Threshold 360+ hours of preceptorship in 2 years
Credit CME credit or other affirmative acknowledgment

Physician Assistant Requirements

Idaho PAs are regulated by the Board of Medicine with oversight from the Physician Assistant Advisory Committee.

DO (Osteopathic) Physicians

Idaho requirements for DO physicians are regulated under the same Board of Medicine as MDs.

  • Facilitates multi-state practice
